Parks Canada acts as Canada's state representative to the World Heritage Convention, and identifies sites for consideration after consulting with other levels of government, relevant stakeholders and Aboriginal groups.
The six proposed sites that are currently on Canada's tentative list meet UNESCO criteria, and are thought to have the best potential over the next decade for inclusion on the World Heritage List as sites of outstanding universal value. They are:
