Join the Canadian Man and the Biosphere Committee (CC-MAB) 

The Canadian Man and the Biosphere Committee is responsible for the activities that make up Canada's contribution to the international Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB), in particular promoting the biosphere reserve concept. In advising the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO), CC-MAB serves as a relay between the different institutions, organizations, ministries and departments concerned with the MAB Programme and UNESCO. CC-MAB shall also promote Canadian participation, whenever appropriate, in the sessions of the MAB International Coordinating Council.

CCUNESCO is looking for experts in environmental sciences and sustainable development (researchers, academics and other experts) and UNESCO MAB Programme experts interested in joining CC-MAB. Candidates should have knowledge of and expertise in the three functions of biosphere reserves: sustainable development, conservation of biological diversity, and education, learning and capacity-building.

1-Read the CC-MAB Terms of Reference and the Call for Applications

2-Send your application to by no later than December 2, 2016. This must include a cover letter (max 1 page) and a short biography/resume.

Help us develop criteria for Canada Memory of the World Register

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) requests your input on the selection criteria that will be used to include Canadian documentary heritage items and collections in the Canada Memory of the World Register. Over the years, the UNESCO Memory of the World Register received increasing support and recognition in Canada. The creation of the Canadian Register was approved by Library and Archives Canada and CCUNESCO’s Executive Committee. All museums, libraries and archives across Canada will be invited to submit applications for the Canada Memory of the World Register. Please note that the submission process to the Canadian Register will be announced at a later date.

How to participate 

1- Read the Draft Assessment Criteria for the Canada Memory of the World Register prepared by Library and Archives Canada in collaboration with Canadian Heritage. 

2- Send your comments to Pauline Dugré, Communication and Information Program Officer at CCUNESCO at by no later than November 28, 2016.
